Educational Objectives of the 2014 Young Investigator's Symposium on Medical Physics Research and Developments of the SF Bay Area Chapter of the AAPM The objective of the San Francisco Chapter of the AAPM Young Investigator’s Symposium is to introduce to our members and other medical physicists in the San Francisco Region new concepts and practices in medical physics (including diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy technology), and update and reinforce knowledge on a wide range of practical aspects of medical physics. The objectives of th e 2014 YI Symposium meeting are to: 1. Provide a classroom and didactic setting for members and young investigators in medical physics affiliated with the regional academic centers (Stanford, UCSF, UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and LBL –Lawrence Berkeley laboratories) to present and exchange cutting-edge research findings and ideas in medical physics imaging, dosimetry, radiation therapy delivery, and associated medical physics technologies in development. 2. Update the chapter members and other attendees on the latest activites at the CAMPEP accredited medical physics/radiation therapy programs at Stanford, UCSF, and UC Davis. 3. Provide young-investigators with an opportunity to strengthen their presentation skills in the form of a competition judged by expert representatives from the chapter.
