RADIOLOGICAL AND MEDICAL PHYSICS SOCIETY, RAMPS

 

During the mid 1940’s, physicists associated with medical institutions in the metropolitan New York City region commenced meetings to compare instrumentation and their measurements of the quantity of radioactivity in solutions in medical use. This was necessary for uniformity, and also for accuracy since the national standard available appeared to be inconsistent.

    This was just prior to the availability of megavoltage x rays and electrons, and the primary concern of the physicists...

By Subway

  1. Take the #6 train to East 68th Street. Walk four blocks east to First Avenue, or take the M66 bus eastbound to York Avenue.

By Bus

  1. Take the M31 to the East 67th Street stop, directly in front of Memorial Hospital. (The M31 operates north and south on York Avenue, and across town on 57th Street.)

  2. Take M15 north bound to First Avenue and 67 Street stop.

  3. Take M15 south bound to Second Avenue and 68 Street. Walk two blocks east to York Avenue.

By Car

  1. Approaching from South of East 68th Street, take the FDR Drive northbound to the 61st Street exit. Make right onto York Avenue.

  2. Approaching from North of East 68th Street, take the FDR Drive southbound to the 71st Street exit. Make left onto York Avenue.
