CHAPTER AWARDS The FLAAPM Fitzgerald Award is given at either the Spring or Fall Meeting of the Florida AAPM in recognition of the best student presentation. This award is named in honor of Dr. Lawrence Fitzgerald in recognition of his lifetime contributions as an educator and mentor in the field of medical physics in the state of Florida. The FLAAPM Mauderli Award was established to recognize lifetime achievement in the field of medical physics in the State of Florida. The award is named in honor of Dr. Walter Mauderli to recognize his contributions as a pioneeer in the field of medical physics, particularly in the State of Florida. Any member of the FLAAPM, including board members, may make nominations for the Mauderli Award to the FLAAPM Board. Nominations should include a brief letter of recommendation summarizing the nominee’s qualifications for the Mauderli Award. The Secretary will call for nominations prior to the annual meeting. The FLAAPM Board will act as the review and selection committee for the Mauderli Award. A 2/3 majority vote of the Board is required. The Mauderli Award is not necessarily given each year. The Board may elect not to accept any nomination in a given year.
Criteria for nomination: a) Prior and/or current membership in the AAPM. Nominees may be retired. b) Twenty years of service as a medical physicist in the State of Florida c) Demonstrated achievement in one or more of the following: a. Service to local, state, or national medical physics organizations, particularly the FLAAPM. b. Accomplishment of significant scientific or clinical research in medical physics. c. Performance of outstanding service as an educator of medical physics. d. Outstanding demonstration of clinical medical physics service.
